Jayam Ravi Mohan born 10 September 1980 in Chennai is an Indian Tamil film actor. Debuting in the 2003 Tamil film Jayam, Ravi is best known for his appearances in the M. Raja-directed M. Kumaran Son Of Mahalakshmi, Something Something ... Unnakum Ennakum and Santhosh Subramaniam.
That 'Jayam' Ravi is going to work with director Samuthirakani in a Tamil-Telugu bilingual is no more news. That Amala Paul is the heroine of the project too is not news. The big buzz is that the 'Thillalangadi' actor is playing a 48-year-old man!
According to sources, Ravi is doing a dual role, and one of them is that of the man in his late forties. While the young character played by the actor will be gentle, the old one will be a flirt, add sources.
Remember Superstar Rajinikanth played a similar role in 'Netri Kan'. However, sources are quick to deny that there will be no similarities between these two movies. "This one is a totally new script penned by Samuthirakani."
Shooting for the movie is expected to kick start soon. Meanwhile, Ravi is gearing up to do a movie titled 'Boologam'. To be directed by debutant Kalyan Krishna, the flick is produced by V Ravichandran of Aascar Films.
Aadhi Bhagwan will be wrapped up soon, said Jayam Ravi.
The film has been in the making for a long time and underwent a lot of problems. Jayam Ravi sports a very different get-up for this film and hence he could not take up any other projects simultaneously.
The star has now confirmed that Aadhi Bhagwan is nearing completion and he is in the last leg of shooting. Directed by Ameer, this film also starsNeetu Chandra and Sudha Chandran.
If Kollywood insiders are to be believed, Jayam Ravi andNayantara who is back after a short hiatus to films will be seen together in 'Boologam'. Helmed by Kaylanakrishnan, a debutant and former assistant of SP Jananathan, the film will see Ravi as a boxer.
The makers have approached Nayantara who was impressed with the project and her role but it is said that she hasn't yet signed on the dotted lines and talks are still on.
Nayan is currently busy with work on a yet-to-be-titled bilingual featuring her and Gopichand and a number of Telugu movies. Ravi is currently working on 'Aadhi Bhagavan' featuring him and Neetu Chandra under Ameer's direction.
A formal announcement listing the cast and crew of 'Boologam' by Aascar Ravichandran is expected shortly. 'Boologam' will go on floors come May.
As predicted, director-actor Ameer's upcoming directorial venture Aadhi Bhagavan has been proceeding at a lackluster pace. Like his contemporaries Bala and Selvaraghavan, Ameer too has this tendency of taking ages to complete his films. Though the final product is always appreciable and enjoyable, industry-watchers feel that it's high time the likes of Ameer pulled up their socks and worked faster.
'Jayam' Ravi has been cast opposite sizzlerNeetu Chandra in this film. Neetu, who danced with Ameer for the Kannitheevu Ponna.... item number in Mysskin's Yudhdham Sei, managed to build up a rapport with the latter and went on to bag the heroine's role in Aadhibagawan. Ravi shaved off the long hair and beard he had grown for the film to act in Prabhudeva's Engeyum Kaadhal last year.
Ravi is not amused by the time taken by Ameer to wrap up the film as it rids him off the opportunities to take on many films. The film has been in the making for more than the past couple of years. Reports say that some 'differences' have crept up between Ameer and Ravi due to the verbal volleys hurled by the former against the latter. Ravi, who has been in the industry for many years now, feels that he surely deserved better treatment from Ameer. Even some technicians and crew members seem to be agreeing with Ravi's feelings.
The actor had recently gone on a holiday to Greece with his wife. The couple had a great time in Mykonos and Santorini which they compared to paradise.
He is back in town and threw a bash at his plush home to catch up with his friends - Arya, Jiiva, Venkat Prabhu, Premji Amaren, Sibiraj, Krish and Udhayanidhi Stalin.
They invited them on the occasion of his wife Aarti's birthday. “It was superrrrrr having the boys over at my pic :))) thank you boys! What a time!!!,” tweeted Jayam Ravi n his microblogging site.
It was a fun party with some great food, music and conversation.
Next Jayam Ravi wll join Aascar Ravichandran for his forthcoming production venture Boologam. It was earliers reported that Amala Paul will be donning the lead lady, which was further rumored by the actress.
